About West Coast Promotions
Manny Sobral, Neil Pope, and Alister Brodie founded West Coast Promotions in the beginning of
2006. The mission of the company is to provide a first class boxing show, in a quality venue.
After forming a strong relationship with key members of Great Canadian Casino’s (such as Howard
Blank and Joe Jackson) they embarked on the goal of bringing back boxing to the Vancouver Lower
Mainland.
After assisting with development of two Boxing Commissions (in the cities of Richmond and Coquitlam),
sanctioned boxing events are taking place for the first time ever in these two fast growing cities.
West Coast put on two BC Golden Gloves championships and also managed the week long 2007 Amateur National
Championships.
They have put together several successful professional boxing events making a point of showcasing
local stars as well as world class talent in their main events.
West Coast has developed a solid relationship with ESPN, and had shows televised on Friday
Night Fights, and Wednesday Night Fights. The local interest in boxing is growing rapidly,
alongside the newfound popularity of boxing in British Columbia.
With the assistance of Great Canadian Casino’s, West Coast has brought in notable boxing celebrities
such as "Smoking" Joe Frazier, "Sugar" Ray Leonard, and Thomas "the
Hitman" Hearns to be part of the events.
