It was an intense fight, as MMA fans from all over BC came together for West Coast Promotions third MMA event. With some very intense match-ups and fights, it was apparent that the fighters were fighting for more than just a win. Some very notable match-ups including an exciting main event between Murray Sogen and Andrew Small. Sogen, very dynamically worked some fluid take-downs, against Small who had a hard time building momentum off his strikes through-out the fight. Sogen finally was able to break down his tough, and respectable opponent through a flurry of strikes that cradled and left Small defenseless against the cage.
For the WCMMA featherweight title, regardless of taking some slams, Ditrocchio held tight to an arm-bar he locked in, early in the match, and defeated Rob Woodcock via arm-bar. There was also a very respectable match between Oliver Vajda and James Pratt, whom both fought hard for 5 rounds. Albeit some very aggressive and opportunistic moments, Pratt was not able to fully subdue Vajda to his ground & pound game plan, letting Vajda take the WCMMA bantamweight belt through some very clever boxing early in the match.
Amongst the excitement, there were several crowd pleasing moments through out the night, including a Muay-Thai title fight between Logan Martin, and Joe Halfar. Martin fought hard and stepped toe-to-toe every round with Halfar, regardless of some penetrating and intense kicks and knees he sustained from the skilled Halfar. Coming back fighting harder every round throughout the night, these fighters definitely portrayed a high level of mental preparation, and pure toughness.
Very tough and hard, Cheryl Chan came out hungry and defeated her opponent Brittney Sluis for a rematch to fight against a very tough Sarah McLeod in May, for the West Coast Promotions female flyweight title. Other respectable mentions go to Saeid Mirzaei, Victor Wang, Mark Sheane, Walter Barrios, and Shawn Pallan, whom all dominated their opponents through some very tough fights. With a packed night of excitement and sold-out crowd, West Coast Promotions came out once again to deliver an intense night of live fights.
